An immeasurable treasure chest of art and history, the excavations of Herculaneum reveal an ancient and splendid city founded by the Greeks on the shores of the sea, which subsequently fell under Samnite domination and was finally transformed into a Roman municipality with the name of Herculaneum.
Located in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79 AD.
Pick-up from your accommodation or nearest meeting point by your driver and guide.
Drive along the Sorrento Coast and enjoy views of the Gulf of Naples on the way to Herculaneum.
Enjoy a 2 hours guided visit in the excavations with an expert and authorized local guide: explore intact buildings, see well-preserved frescoes, and imagine the daily rituals of those using shops, public gymnasiums and thermal baths that can still be visited today.
At the end of the visit a little bit of free time will be given before reaching Sorrento by bus at approx. 01:30 pm.
