After a long sleep, Vesuvius woke up on October 24, 79 AD. This eruption was apocalyptic, since it destroyed the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.Herculaneum was discovered in the 18th century and became one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world.
Pick up from your accommodation/meeting point and transfer by small bus to the Vineyard for easy lunch. With a guide, visit the archeological ruins of Herculaneum, the splendid city founded by Greeks, covered by lava and preserved in time. For about 2 hours local guide.which shows the main attractions of these wonderful ruins.The city was submerged by a torrent of mud and lava that hardened into a soft tuff (a kind of rock) which preserved many wooden parts of houses and domestic objects that can be seen today in a perfect state of preservation.
Return to your accommodation/meeting point in the afternoon.
